BigBand Networks introduced new releases of its Converged Video Exchange (CVEx) video control plane and Switched Video Analysis (SVA) software solutions. The CVEx 2.5 is intended for new services such as additional channels, non-linear service offerings and multi-screen video solutions. It manages video services across the network edge to traditional RF set-top boxes as well as IP devices, bringing RF and IP video together into a single resource pool. It dynamically controls the allocation of all video services within a single bandwidth/spectrum pool and provides a holistic view into usage and resource utilization. It also supports industry standard protocols and interfaces for third-party applications. The SVA 5.0 is intended for monitoring the utilization and performance of BigBand's SDV systems in near real time along with predictive tools for optimization and planning, automatic and scheduled report generation, additional detailed metrics, automatic highlighting of network trouble spots, and deeper integration with CVEx to automatically detect topology and other configuration changes. It's designed for real-time insight, report automation and predictive analytics via functions for monitoring, capacity planning and system optimization.
