In response to broadcast networks' complaints, the New York Southern District Court issued a temporary restraining order against over-the-top (OTT) video provider FilmOn (www.filmon.com), stopping it from retransmitting free network TV. The court didn't buy FilmOn's argument that it's exempt from copyright infringement liability as a cable system. The court is providing FilmOn with an opportunity to elaborate upon its "cable system" argument more thoroughly in a hearing on the networks' request for a preliminary injunction.
