Since its launch in 2013, the Amazon Fire TV streaming box and stick have risen to the top of the rankings in the U.S. Digital Media Streamer market. According to Strategy Analytics' Connected Home Devices report, the Fire products held a 30 percent share of shipments in Q1 2015. The report also showed that, at 3.5 million units, more digital media streamers were shipped in the U.S. in the first quarter than smart TVs, IP connectable game consoles or smart Blu-ray players. There are 35.7 million digital media streamers installed in U.S. homes and 32 percent of U.S. broadband homes own at least one streaming content device. Since launch in 2007, Apple has shipped more than 15 million Apple TV units; Roku has shipped 13.5 units. Meanwhile, 8.5 million Chromecast streaming dongles have shipped, as have 4.5 Amazon Fire TVs, Strategy Analytics reports.
