Synacor (NASDAQ:SYNC) has appointed Himesh Bhise chief executive officer and member of the company's board of directors, effective Aug. 4. Bhise takes over from Ron Frankel, who will continue to serve as company advisor and remain on the board.

Bhise most recently led New Services & Platforms for Comcast. Before Comcast, he worked for Charter Communications, AOL's Mobile division, and McKinsey & Co.
