March 26, 2002--Fujitsu Quantum Devices Ltd. (www.fqd.fujitsu.com), Fujitsu Compound Semiconductor Inc. (www.fcsi.fujitsu.com), and JDS Uniphase Corp. (www.jdsu.com) today announced a multi-source agreement (MSA) for the development of 40-Gbit/sec PIN receivers with differential coplanar outputs for 40-Gbit/sec fiber-optic system applications.
This differential coplanar MSA receiver design reduces the space required on 40-Gbit/sec circuit packs, cancels common mode noise at the clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit, and doubles the output voltage swing compared to single-ended designs, say the vendors. The MSA receivers are compatible with advanced decision thresholding techniques using differential monitor outputs and threshold control inputs.
The MSA specifies the maximum receiver package outline, pin function definitions, and pin locations for singlemode fiber pigtailed, 40-Gbit/sec PIN receiver modules. The flange mount package is approximately 24x38x7.4 mm in size. Sample products are expected to be available in June 2002.
