Qusion Technologies, an optical component manufacturer driving the integration of optical components, announced that it has reached an agreement to supply EMCORE external modulators commencing with their wide optical bandwidth electro-absorption modulator product family.

Qusion and EMCORE have established a strategic supply agreement for Qusion's leading edge Integrated Photonic technologies to address EMCORE customer's needs for higher data rate and longer reach solutions. The agreement provides EMCORE with early access and influence on new product developments at Qusion.

In addition to the supply agreement, Qusion announced that EMCORE has made a strategic investment in the company that will be part of their second round of financing. A substantial portion of the second round has been committed by
EMCORE and leading venture firms, but the round is still open to new investors.

These announcements further solidify the relationship between the two companies. In October 2001 EMCORE President and CEO Reuben F. Richards, Jr. joined Qusion's board of directors.

"EMCORE, a leader in laser and array technology, is a great complementary partner for Qusion, giving us insight, guidance and access to leading technology," says Phil Wallace, President and CEO of Qusion Technologies.

"We expect that Qusion's technology will enable us to extend the reach and data rate of our products," says Reuben F. Richards, Jr., President and CEO EMCORE. "Their innovations in material design, growth, integration and Indium Phosphide will allow us to deliver extraordinary value to our customers."
