24 September 2003 San Antonio, TX Lightwave -- LightPointe, designer and manufacturer of Free-Space Optics (FSO) products, and TerraWave Solutions, value-added distributor of Wi-Fi solutions, have announced a partnership to provide Wi-Fi resellers with LightPointe's products that deliver up to 2.5 Gbits/sec of full-duplex wireless bandwidth.

LightPointe's products are based upon FSO, a laser-based technology through which license-free optical connectivity of voice, video, and data is sent and received simultaneously on invisible beams of light. LightPointe products are customer deployed in more than 50 countries, confirm company representatives.

Per the agreement, TerraWave and LightPointe will develop a strong channel and promotional programs to provide U.S. and Canadian resellers with LightPointe's FSO products. TerraWave will incorporate LightPointe's FlightSpectrum, FlightStrata, and FlightApex products into its full line of Wi-Fi infrastructure and accessory products.

"LightPointe's FSO products are an excellent addition to our solutions portfolio because they address an important segment of bridging applications which require full-duplex, fast Ethernet connections and more," explains Chris Marco, president of TerraWave Solutions. "These levels of throughput and connectivity are unattainable with traditional Wi-Fi or T1 lines. With LightPointe, we can now offer our resellers high-bandwidth optical connectivity options for an array of enterprise and service provider deployments."
