Fiber Optek files suit to collect $20 million debt from Neon Optica Inc.

May 10, 2001--Fiber Optek, a privately-owned company that develops and installs fiber optic communications networks, reported it has filed suit in New York State Supreme Court against NEON Optica Inc.

Fiber Optek, a privately-owned company that develops and installs fiber optic communications networks, reported it has filed suit in New York State Supreme Court against NEON Optica Inc., a subsidiary of NEON Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: NOPT), to collect more than $20 million in claims arising from work done for NEON and its predecessor, FiveCom Inc., over a three-year period.

Fiber Optek was involved in the design, permitting and construction of certain key NEON optical cable facilities in strategic areas such as White Plains, Rye and New Rochelle, N.Y.; Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk and Hartford, Conn.; and Springfield, Mass.

Fiber Optek intends to pursue this litigation, perhaps commencing other proceedings against NEON as provided for under law.
