Lucent focuses on service providers

8 July 2002 -- Lucent Technologies is selling the enterprise portion of its professional services unit, which will now focus on its core service provider customers.

8 July 2002 -- Lucent Technologies Inc is selling the enterprise portion of its professional services unit to West Coast Venture Capital LLC, based in Cupertino, CA, USA. The unit will become a new International Network Services Inc (INS) subsidiary, based in Santa Clara and providing network consulting and design services across North America and Europe.

INS will retain the existing management team of Lucent's Enhanced Services and Sales division (ESS) and establish an independent professional services company focused on the design, integration and operation of enterprise networks. ESS division president David Butze will be president and CEO. ESS was formerly part of International Network Services, acquired by Lucent in 1999 for USD3.7bn.

Lucent has already integrated the consultants for its service provider customers into Lucent Worldwide Services and will continue providing networking professional services to its core service provider customers.
