Tellabs 1100 MSAP earns RUS acceptance
NOVEMBER 14, 2007 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) granted acceptance for copper and fiber services on the Tellabs (search for Tellabs) 1100 Multiservice Access Platform (MSAP), the company has announced. RUS acceptance makes the Tellabs 1100 MSAP family available through tailored government funding and low-cost loans.
The Tellabs 1100 MSAP family is designed to unite video, data, and voice traffic on a single network. It also enables fiber deployment to within 500 ft of customers at a cost comparable to copper, Tellabs says.
The Tellabs 1100 MSAP family supports a wide range of services, including Gigabit Ethernet fiber to the curb, GPON fiber to the premises, fiber to the node, and traditional copper.
One family member, the Tellabs 1134 MSAP, is designed to fit into small service providers' existing cabinets. Another member, the Tellabs 1150 MSAP, supports migration to all IP/Ethernet access. This flexibility enables it to fit into existing networks or new deployments, the company asserts.
