Jan. 15, 2002 - Luminous Networks (Cupertino, CA) today announced that China Netcom Corporation has deployed Luminous' PacketWave as the first live multi-service resilient packet ring (RPR) platform, and is generating revenues with customers including the Shanghai stock exchange.

China Netcom is deploying the Luminous platform in nine cities, including Shanghai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Foshan, Shunde, Mianyang, Quanzhou, Shaoxing, and Jiaxing, spanning five provinces.

With the deployment, China Netcom can now use one platform to support Internet access, enterprise virtual private networks (VPNs), leased lines, and voice services, allowing delivery of application-specific and customer-specific transport services.
