Financial service provider chooses RAD for voice solution

8 April 2003 London -- Gains International, a specialist service provider of voice and data solutions to financial institutions, has selected the Megaplex-2100 multiservice access multiplexer from RAD Data Communications, Tel Aviv, Israel, to deliver voice services to Gains' financial customers.

Gains provides specialist voice and data services into trading rooms and from office operations of financial institutions worldwide. It has offices in London, New York, Singapore, Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo, and points of presence in over 30 countries. The group currently has an annual turnover of EUR25m, with over 150 clients, predominantly blue-chip.

Grant Notman, UK General Manager, RAD Data Communications, said, "The chosen platform had to support the signalling types used by the financial community, as well as provide full resiliency and Quality of Service to support mission critical applications," he explained. "The Megaplex-2100 proved to be the perfect solution for the job."

Megaplex enables Gains to extend and manage services up to the customer site, enabling future services to be "turned up" more quickly and effectively. RAD claims its Megaplex provides customers with the same services at half the cost of the alternative Alcatel Newbridge platform. In addition,the Megaplex is also much smaller in size.

Cliff Irons, Manager of Gains', Network Services Group, said, "RAD allowed our engineers to help enhance the equipment to suit the financial market so that the delivered solution fulfilled all our stringent requirements." The solution was installed by Dynetcom, an authorised RAD distributor in the UK.

Gains' private voice circuits link traders across the globe, ensuring a permanent, reliable connection over which customised solutions for the financial market, such as commentaries, multi-circuits, bridging and "hoot n' holler" are offered.

The Megaplex is part of RAD's Multiservice Access Platform (MAP) solution. The Megaplex line of multiservice access multiplexers supports services including analogue and digital voice, high and low speed data and LAN services. It lowers the cost of entry for introducing new services, offering economical and easy connection of customers to any existing network.
