GiantLoop Network, Inc., a provider of Enterprise Optical Networking services, and Globix Corporation, a provider of Internet connectivity and sophisticated Internet solutions for businesses, announced a business relationship that will bring all-optical connectivity to major metropolitan areas. Under the arrangement, Globix will utilize GiantLoop's managed optical networking services to enhance access to large data center spaces at Globix SuperPOP facilities in New York and connect to its existing 2.5 GB backbone network.

With this increased bandwidth, Globix will be able to provide enterprise-class managed services including storage area networking, disaster recovery, remote mirroring, and metro-based failover to accommodate its customers' mission-critical requirements. The GiantLoop network services will also act as an optical backbone for Globix business-focused offerings such as Globix Streaming Media and EarthCacheSM Content Distribution, and provide wire-speed performance and sub-50 millisecond failover for these services.

The GiantLoop Network solution for Globix delivers:

* Network connectivity for scale and scope: Based upon Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) equipment, GiantLoop's managed optical networking service provides up to 80 gigabits per second of throughput and extends beyond traditional telco networks to provide managed connectivity to facilities-based storage, data networking, and telco equipment. The breadth and depth of this offering frees Globix from complex network design, expensive equipment procurement, time-consuming circuit provisioning, and ongoing management and maintenance.

* Comprehensive software functionality: GiantLoop managed optical networking services offer end-to-end monitoring and management capabilities to track network status, performance statistics, and utilization. This software functionality eases day-to-day operations at Globix, provides critical information for planning and needs assessment, and offers real-time status metrics for business managers.

* Unique customer care: The GiantLoop customer care program includes extensive configuration testing, customized deployment, round-the-clock network management, comprehensive SLAs, and maintenance services that feature 2-hour response time for problem resolution. These offerings accelerate implementation, reduce problems, and minimize downtime. For Globix, these benefits translate into greatly improved ROI.

In addition, Globix agreed to participate in GiantLoop's Enterprise Content Networking initiative by connecting at gateways to GiantLoop's network. Through these connections, Globix will be able to offer corporations such as financial institutions, storage service providers, application service providers and other enterprise businesses, access to its SuperPOP Internet Data Centers as well as to remote mirroring, backup data replication and content delivery services.
