OCTOBER 21, 2009 -- ADVA Optical Networking has introduced the new FSP Service Manager. Designed for seamless integration with the company's FSP Network Manager, the FSP Service Manager supports end-to-end delivery of high-quality services across networks built upon ADVA's FSP product family.

Utilizing an intuitive graphical user interface, the FSP Service Manager provides operators with service-level provisioning and control across the entire network, which makes the creation, provisioning, monitoring and maintenance of services quicker and easier, according to the company.

using an intelligent service-provisioning wizard, the service manager enables network operators to create end-to-end services with a few mouse clicks. The tool provides a high-level view of available paths through the network, which means that operators no longer need to configure individual network elements, says ADVA. By applying service templates for provisioning, the selection of many parameters and configurations becomes redundant. The FSP Service Manager ensures service setup according to the network operator's standards, meaning execution of the service management function may be accomplished by entry-level staff.

Unlike common network element-centric offerings, service-based network management is capable of tracking, managing, and supporting network access, activity, and security with a small staff. Automated service delivery can enable network operators to migrate to service-centric processes and close the gap between traffic and service revenue growth, says the company.

The FSP Service Manager can perform diagnostics, monitor service performance, and check availability for individual FSP network elements, potentially resolving issues instantly regardless of location and without delays or truck rolls.

"The FSP Service Manager brings point-and-click convenience to our FSP product line, unleashing the power of automation for our customers," says Christoph Glingener, chief technology officer for ADVA Optical Networking. "This latest innovation demonstrates our commitment to helping customers find new ways of doing more with less. With tools like the FSP Service Manager, we're helping them uncover new efficiencies, improve customer service, and maximize their revenue streams."

ADVA Optical Networking is exhibiting at Supercomm 2009, Chicago, IL, Oct. 21-23.
