Frederic Esbert, area VP for sales, Tellium Inc

Tellium Inc is expanding its operations in Europe by opening a sales office in Paris, joining offices in London and Brussels.

Tellium has hired Frederic Esbert as area vice president for sales. Esbert has 14 years of experience in telecoms. From 1996 to 2002 he was country manager then regional sales director, France and Belgium, for Tellabs SAS. Previously, he was sales director for Xylogics France and, from 1988 to 1994, he held engineering and sales positions with Gandalf SA, the French subsidiary of Gandalf Technologies Inc.

Ken Jones, chief executive officer, Essient Photonics

Scottish integrated III-V opto component supplier Essient Photonics has appointed Ken Jones as president, CEO and board member.

As VP and general manager of Vitesse's Advanced Transmission Division, Jones was responsible for marketing, design and product release of network core and metro physical layer devices. He also directed the design, marketing and sales for an internally funded III-Vs start-up, and developed strategic customer relations with OEMs, subassembly module suppliers and contract manufacturers. Dr Marcel Klein Koerkamp, COO, C2V

MEMS manufacturer C2V, a management buy-out of Alcatel Optronics Netherlands has appointed Dr Marcel Klein Koerkamp, former managing director of JDS Uniphase Photonics, as chief operating officer, leading its team of Integrated Optics and MEMS engineers.

He has experience in production and product development of micro system technology based components and subsystems and will guide growth in production, development and design. John Wyatt, CEO, Kodeos Communications Inc

10Gbit/s optical transponder supplier Kodeos Communications has named John Wyatt CEO.

Wyatt has 28 years of senior managerial, marketing, operations and engineering experience in optical communication networking components/modules, subsystems and systems.

Wyatt was president of JDS Uniphase's Transmission Subsystem Group, responsible for four business units that supply optical modules/subsystems. Earlier experience included executive positions at Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, TranSwitch, BT&D Technologies and Siemens/Stromberg-Carlson.

Frank Dangeard has joined the Executive Committee of France Telecom Group as head of FinancialRebalancing (programme "15+15+15").

After practising law at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and London from 1985 to 1986, Dangeard was managing director of SBC Warburg from 1989 to 1997, including chairman of SBC Warburg France from 1995. He joined Thomson in 1997 as deputy CEO and was appointed vice chairman in July 2001 then chairman in October 2002.

Michel Combes replaces Jean-Louis Vinciguerra as CFO of France Telecom SA. He was formerly CEO of satellite carrier Globecast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, and deputy CEO of TV broadcaster TDF (sold by France Telecom last July to a consortium of UK-based Charterhouse Development Capital, its French partner CDC Ixis and Caisse des Depots). www.francetelecom.com

Morgenthaler Venture partner Krish Prabhu and PurchasePro president, CEO and chairman Richard L Clemmer have joined the board of Agere Systems.

Earlier Prabhu was chief operating officer of Alcatel worldwide and CEO of Alcatel USA and head of R&D at Rockwell International's Network Systems Transmission Division.

Clemmer was senior VP and chief financial officer of Texas Instruments' Semiconductor Group and executive VP and chief financial officer of Quantum Corp.
