August 1, 2005 Pittsburgh, PA and Kansas City, MO -- TelCove, a provider of telecommunications services to enterprise customers and carriers, today announced that it has expanded its presence in the Kansas City market by building out its fiber-optic network to Johnson County, MO, entering into several regional franchise agreements, and adding to its regional sales team's leadership.
The company says it recently enhanced its expanded Kansas City presence by adding a six-person sales staff. The staff expansion coincides with the completion of the company's 70 mile build-out of its local Kansas City SONET-ring fiber-optic network. The downtown network loop was extended south to Johnson County. In addition, TelCove has secured franchise agreements with the cities of Kansas City, MO, Overland Park, KS, and Lenexa, KS to offer enterprise Internet, data, and voice services.
TelCove's expansion in the Kansas City market follows the company's completion of the acquisition of network assets and customers from KMC Telecom in 21 markets, announced on July 1. With the acquisition, TelCove says its business and carrier customers now have high-speed transport options to all of its markets in the eastern half of the U.S., from Vermont to New York and New Jersey and Florida, and as far west and south as Wichita, KS, Detroit, MI, and Houston, TX.
The company says that adding the Kansas City metro market to its coverage area expands its fiber footprint to over 20,000 fiber miles in 70 U.S. markets, enabling geographically wide-ranging business communications, all through the same fiber-optic network. The company's service offerings include disaster recovery/business continuity and Virtual Private Network (VPN) platforms, switched voice services, high-capacity data connections via Ethernet, and enterprise Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.
