    to the military and transportation markets hopes to make a splash in fiber-optics. trw Inc., Redondo Beach, CA, has formed a strategic alliance with Multilink Technology Corp., Santa Monica, CA, aimed at providing integrated- circuit technology for fiber-optic transmission and switching equipment. trw hopes the alliance will enable it to transition gallium arsenide technology developed for the defense market into modules that will be used in systems that link fiber-optic to copper media and vice versa.
