Ando Electric Co., Ltd. and Yokogawa Electric Corp. have jointly developed the AP9950 Pulse Pattern Generator and AP9951 Error Detector, Bit Error Rate test sets (BERTs) that evaluate high-speed devices and optical components for 40-Gbit/sec optical transmission systems.
Since it started selling 40-Gbit/sec Bit Error Test System last September, Ando has been synergizing its communications measuring instrument expertise and Yokogawa's device technology in its ongoing drive to raise its share of the growing market for 40-Gbit/sec BERTsolutions.
At only about 2/3 the size and weight of more conventional predecessors, the new products are very portable space-savers, say the companies. Their single-box, standalone design does away with connections between measuring instruments, which complicate conventional test systems and degrade signals. The benefits: superior waveform quality and lower power consumption.
The devices feature three measurement modes and burst signal measurement functions, including 40-Gbit/sec mode, 10-Gbit/sec mode, and a Burst signal measurement function
The companies will start accepting orders as of March 19. The products will be displayed at Ando's booth (#3613) at the OFC 2002 exhibition in Anaheim, CA, from March 19-21.
