Components market will remain 'exasperating' until 2005

22 November 2002 -- As the telecom industry continues to struggle, market analyst iSuppli is predicting that the outlook for the components market will remain 'exasperating' through to 2005.

In its latest Optical Components semi-annual report, market analyst iSuppli reveals that the communications market for optical components used in SONET/SDH and in DWDM transport and switching equipment will fall to USD1.7bn - a 45% decline from 2001 levels of USD3.2bn.

With communications OEMs reducing equipment production in response to rapidly declining demand from the carriers, the demand for optical components has become virtually non-existent. What are the implications?
