- New fibre venture by Schneider Electric Industries heralds
major investment programme
21 January 2003 -- Avenue Solutions is a new UK-based company in the datacoms LAN and cabling market and it expects to become a leading player in the provision of global fibre-optic Voice Data Image (VDI) connectivity.
Based in Ashford, Kent, the new company has been formed by Sydney Hogg, former managing director of the European arm of Computer Crafts Inc.
Under a venture agreement with Schneider Electric Industries, Avenue has acquired the assets of Computer Craft's European manufacturing and sales headquarters, giving it a ready foundation of technological and operational resources.
An investment programme is underway to position Avenue Solutions as a provder of VDI and LAN system interconnect and networking solutions, acting as the Schneider group's competence centre for fibre-optic product development.
Sydney Hogg, Avenue's managing director, said, "The investment and resource support of the Schneider group will enable us to build further on our unique strengths to give us clear differentiation in the market. This combines the skills of our people, process knowledge, products and industry relationships - which include Agilent Technologies and Fujikura Japan."
Bernard Quancard, General Manager of VDI Global Growth Initiative at Schneider Electric Industries, said, "In the UK, Avenue Solutions will offer integrated cabling solutions direct to the Data Centre, SAN (Storage Area Network) and Server Farm-related organisations.
"In overseas markets, the company will work with us to provide local support to our own business operations, supplying fibre product solutions for LAN and VDI applications.
"This joint venture allows us to extend our capabilities in the fibre-optic arena by drawing on the technical strengths and expertise of Avenue Solutions."
Avenue Solutions will initially focus on providing support for Gigabit and 10 Gigabit operating systems, utilising the design flexibility of its GigaRoute solutions portfolio to target systems integrators, major installers, networking companies and specialist distributors.
