According to RHK industry analysts, Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. was the number one supplier of SONET Metro equipment with 42.3 percent share of a $5.5 billion market -- nearly 19 percent more than the closest competitor.
During 2000, Fujitsu deployed more than 200,000 of its FLASH multi-service SONET transport systems around the globe. The FLASH product line includes FLASH2400 ADX, FLASH600 ADX and FLASH150 ADX. Integrated multi-service features in these products allow simultaneous transport of SONET traffic, IP (Internet Protocol), local area network, and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) data traffic -- or any combination -- over fiber-optic networks.
"RHK expects that boosting capacity and extending broadband capabilities in the metro market will remain a priority for carriers through 2004," said Brian Van Steen, Analyst, Optical Networking of RHK.
The RHK report titled "SONET Transport &ADCS--Metro SONET: Market Forecast and Analysis" was released March 2, 2001.
