Comtech Telecommunications awarded $1.5 Million contract for fiber optic communications in Africa
Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:ACMTL) has received a $1.5 million contract by a major U.S.-based corporation to provide fiber optic communications in an African country.
Under the contract, received by the Comtech Systems Inc. subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications, the fiber optic communications equipment and systems will be used in connecting remote locations to a central post telephone and telegraph (PTT) center.
According to Fred Kornberg, president and CEO of Comtech, the company will be responsible for system design, installation of the electronics equipment, and testing. The project is expected to be completed this year.
This is the first contract under which the company will connect a fiber optic systems into a public telephone system.
