San Francisco Bay Area Transit District has awarded a $38.5 million contract to Omaha, NB-based MFS Network Technologies Inc. for system design and integration of an 82-mile synchronous optical network-based fiber-optic backbone and an 800-megahert¥trunking radio system. In addition, MFS will build and maintain a communications conduit system for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District and market it to telecommunications companies, including local exchange, interexchange, competitive access, paging, cable-TV and cellular providers.
