Alcatel Optronics in Paris and Japan-based Mitsubishi Electric Corp. have agreed to develop and market a new generation of fully compatible integrated optoelectronic modules for synchronous digital hierarchy and synchronous optical network transmissions. These integrated modules will cover bit rates of 155, 622 and 2488 megabits per second at both 1310- and 1550-nanometer wavelengths.
