JANUARY 8, 2009 -- AboveNet Communications Inc. (search for AboveNet) has expanded services into the Austin, TX, market. Austin becomes AboveNet's 15th major metro market where it provides high-bandwidth services. This is part of AboveNet's continuing investment in network facilities with the goal of broadening its network assets so as to best support Fortune 1000 customers and their mission critical operations.

"We're extremely excited about the opportunities represented by the Austin market," said telecommunications industry veteran John "Joc" Jacquay, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "By offering services within Austin and connecting Austin to our networks in Dallas, Houston, and our other metro markets, we provide a tremendous suite of high-bandwidth data transport solutions to this key region."

AboveNet has already begun selling its complete array of metro and WAN services to customers needing high-bandwidth connectivity within and into the Austin market. Along with this investment, AboveNet intends to connect to the ever growing data center presence in Austin. This addition will complement the more than 300 data centers currently connected to AboveNet's national, high-bandwidth networks.
