JUNE 23, 2009 -- Zayo Bandwidth (search Lightwave for Zayo), a regional provider fiber-based bandwidth to carrier, enterprise and government customers, says it will begin providing fiber-based bandwidth services to the Youngstown, OH, metro area. Zayo says it will light over 60 miles of metro fiber, providing access to key locations in the greater Youngstown area, including mobile switching centers, central offices, and data centers.
Along with the expansion of its metro network in the area, Zayo will provide service to Youngstown-based network infrastructure consulting firm DRS, LLC. DRS specializes in LANs, WANs, and connectivity. Zayo will provide DRS with fiber-based backhaul services from its Youngstown data centers to key client locations and to Zayo's colocation facility in Pittsburgh, PA. Zayo will also provide DRS with colocation space in Pittsburgh and Internet access out of the Youngstown market, offering DRS customers increased carrier diversity.
"This partnership with Zayo provides a more open market for additional carriers to extend their services to our region," Mike Meloy, DRS president, said. "This will create more opportunities for new businesses to take root and grow, which will benefit our local economy. Furthermore, it will also assist us with furthering our national support of infrastructure management to existing and prospective clients alike, truly a win-win situation for all parties."
