SEPTEMBER 19, 2006 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. (search Enablence Technologies), developer of FTTH components for optical modems, has entered into an agreement with Ignis Photonyx (search Ignis Photonyx) to develop optical modems for fiber-based broadband access.
In a related announcement, Enablence also has entered into a large-volume supply agreement for a minimum of two years with Ignis Photonyx's wafer fab outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. Under the supply agreement, Ignis Photonyx will fabricate wafers using Enablence's proprietary Dispersion Bridge technology.
"With this supply agreement, Enablence has secured access to a world class optical fab in Denmark," explains Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence Technologies.
"We see plenty of upside in this supply agreement as Fiber-to-the-Home continues to deploy rapidly throughout Asia, and the Enablence planar lightwave circuit (PLC) approach has been well received by the market," adds Thomas Ramm, CEO of Ignis ASA.
