April 6, 2004 Utica,NY--NetTest, a global provider of testing, monitoring and management equipment for advanced and converged networks, announced the addition of the CMA 5300 CD-OTDR module to its CMA 5000 multi-layer test platform. Utilizing the "time of flight" method as recommended by the TIA FOTP-168, the CMA 5300 is designed for the metro market. It is an easy to use, single ended test that measures dispersion over a wide band from 1300 to 1625 nm. By incorporating a series of applications, including chromatic dispersion (CD), optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR), loss test set, power meter, light source and optical return loss into one module, the CMA 5300 provides exceptional value at a low cost.

Utilizing six wavelengths to perform a test, the CMA 5300 provides the highest level of accuracy field deployable time of flight measurement available on the market, according to the company. A powerful report editing feature and the capability of storing and analyzing data on a desktop PC, along with the need for only one operator to perform a test further showcases the exceptional value obtained from this module.

"This latest addition to NetTest's CMA 5000 product line reinforces the company's commitment to bringing its customers the best solutions possible to characterize their networks," said Lars Pedersen, vice president and general manager, NetTest.
