SDC Capital Partners takes majority stake in fiber network service provider Fatbeam
SDC Capital Partners, LLC has closed a majority investment in Fatbeam Holdings, LLC for an undisclosed sum. The previous majority owners of the Coeur d’Alene, ID, based provider of fiber-optic network services will retain what is being called “a material ownership stake.” The sale will add capital to fund Fatbeam’s growth, says the company.
Fatbeam offers fiber infrastructure services to enterprise, education, healthcare, government, and carrier customers in the western U.S. It operates an infrastructure of more than 45,000 fiber miles, primarily in metro areas of Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. Fatbeam CEO and Co-Founder Greg Green will remain with the company.
"Fatbeam has developed a distinctive, high-quality regional network and has earned a reputation for delivering complex, customized solutions and first-class service to its customers,” said Todd Aaron, SDC’s managing partner. “We are thrilled to support Greg Green and the management team as their customer-driven growth accelerates.”
“SDC’s investment marks an inflection point for Fatbeam as we continue to densify within our existing markets and embark on strategic expansion,” added Green. “SDC brings to our partnership deep sector knowledge and a wealth of complementary relationships that we believe will enable Fatbeam to accelerate growth and better serve our customers.”
SDC focuses its investment activities on the IT and communications infrastructure sectors, including data centers, network/fiber and wireless infrastructure. Its portfolio includes, but is not limited to, investments in dark fiber provider SummitIG, the Sentinel Ashburn Nexus and Washington Dulles Gateway data centers in Ashburn, VA, and Ascenty, which operates eight data center facilities in Brazil.
