Washington, D.C.-based investment firm Grain Management, LLC says it has closed its previously announced acquisition of a majority interest in Hunter Communications, Inc. (see "Grain Management to buy Hunter Communications"). Hunter is a regional bandwidth infrastructure provider that operates in southern Oregon and northern California. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1992, Hunter began building an all-fiber network throughout Medford, OR, in 2000 and now owns and operates one of the largest private fiber-optic networks in the state. The company oversees a fiber network of more than 2000 route miles, which is uses to supply data and voice services to businesses and homes throughout southern Oregon and parts of northern California.

Grain, founded in 2007, focuses its investment activities on the global communications sector. In addition to Hunter, the firm recently acquired a majority interest in Florida’s Summit Broadband (see “Grain Management finishes Summit Broadband buy”).
