Polatis, Continuum Photonics finalize merger
September 23, 2005 Cambridge, UK -- Closing on a previously announced definitive agreement to merge, Polatis and Continuum Photonics, makers of optical switch subsystems and module products, announced that the two companies have combined their technology, product lines, and personnel to create a single business, now known as Polatis Inc. Dave Lewis has been named the CEO of the combined company, which will maintain offices and operations in both the United States and United Kingdom.
The company says the merger provides it with more resources to respond to increasing demand for optical switches across an array of industries, including aerospace, defense, telecom, and video broadcast.
The company says that by having sales, development, and manufacturing resources located in both the U.S. and the UK, it will be able to offer better support to its customers. Going forward, the company says it plans to implement: an accelerated program of product launches; continued support of all product ranges; an extended, 14-hour customer support window; improved delivery lead-times; increased sales and customer support resources; and periodical updates on products, applications, and examples of differentiated platforms through a company newsletter.
The company plans to introduce a range of new products at this months ECOC exhibition in Glasgow, Scotland.
