Cleareon, which provides dark fiber and lit services in the New York tri-state area, has purchased fellow New York area service provider Pangaea Networks. The acquisition fills out Cleareon's services mix to include dark fiber, Ethernet and wavelength services for carriers and large enterprise customers in the region.

Cleareon, which provides dark fiber and lit services in the New York tri-state area, has purchased fellow New York area service provider Pangaea Networks (see "Pangaea Networks launches dedicated 10 Gigabit Ethernet ring service in New York City"). The acquisition fills out Cleareon's services mix to include dark fiber, Ethernet and wavelength services for carriers and large enterprise customers in the region.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are very excited about how this acquisition fits our plans for the future and how well the Pangaea team and assets synergize with Cleareon. Now, in addition to our dark fiber offering, Cleareon is able to provide Ethernet and wavelength services under our service assurance layer," states Cliff Kane, Co-CEO, Cleareon. "With Pangaea we are in a better position to address existing demand for access and transport, as well as, nascent opportunities in cloud, densification, and IoT [Internet of Things]."

Cleareon serves large enterprise buildings, carrier hotels, peering facilities, and data centers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The addition of Pangaea Networks increases Clearon's roster of connected buildings and facilities, particularly across the Hudson River into New Jersey and north into Connecticut (see "Pangaea Networks uses Ciena CESD platforms for metro Ethernet network").

"Cleareon is committed to serving Pangaea's customer base, and delivering a world-class experience," comments Michael Collado, Co-CEO, Cleareon. "We are very pleased to welcome Pangaea's team to our growing organization, and look forward to continue working in partnership with enterprises and carriers to support their expanding demands for more capacity, faster provisioning of services, and cost-efficient scaling over the coming years."
