ixc Communications Inc., Austin, TX, is adding 1400 mi to its nationwide fiber-optic network

ixc Communications Inc., Austin, TX, is adding 1400 mi to its nationwide fiber-optic network through a fiber-exchange transaction with ftv Communications llc, Tulsa, OK. ixc will acquire fiber on the 1400-mi route ftv is building between Las Vegas, NV, and Portland, OR, via Salt Lake City, UT, and Boise, ID. In return, ftv will acquire the same amount of fiber on the route ixc is building from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. ftv, a limited liability corporation formed by FirstPoint Communications, Touch America, and Williams Communications Group, plans to complete its route by January 1999. Each group will maintain its own part of the route.
