Army pact

Meret Communications, the wholly owned subsidiary of Osicom Technologies, Santa Monica, CA, has been listed as sole supplier of real-time broadband fiber-optic video equipment by GTE Worldwide Telecommunications Services in the procurement catalog for its $259-million Outside Cable Rehabilitation (Oscar II) contract. Osicom estimates that sales of its Catel family of fiber-optic video equipment under the contract could potentially reach $3 million.

Oscar provides the capability for the Army and other Department of Defense agencies to acquire cable, associated cable hardware, fiber-optic equipment, local area network (LAN) components and logistic support. Under terms of the contract, GTE will perform site surveys and furnish and install fiber-optic cable, transmission and LAN equipment.
