JDSU taps Sanmina-SCI to advance its manufacturing strategy

FEBRUARY 5, 2009 -- JDSU has signed a definitive agreement with electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider Sanmina-SCI Corp. for the manufacturing of JDSU products. Per the agreement, Sanmina-SCI will acquire certain manufacturing assets, inventories, and employees related to JDSU's operations in Shenzhen, China.

FEBRUARY 5, 2009 -- JDSU (search for JDSU) has signed a definitive agreement with electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider Sanmina-SCI Corp. (search for Sanmina-SCI) for the manufacturing of JDSU products. Per the agreement, Sanmina-SCI will acquire certain manufacturing assets, inventories, and employees related to JDSU's operations in Shenzhen, China. The agreement is subject to certain customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval. JDSU and Sanmina-SCI anticipate the transaction to close before April 6, 2009.

As part of the agreement, Sanmina-SCI says it will build on the strong capabilities of JDSU's Shenzhen operations to offer the world's leading telecommunications companies access to cutting-edge new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing services for advanced optical products. The seamless transfer of a well-trained and skilled organization will allow Sanmina-SCI to produce and deliver orders without any interruption to JDSU and its customers, say the companies.

JDSU says it will continue to maintain corporate functions and product development in the region.
