Teleglobe Inc. (Montreal) completed its merger with Excel Communications Inc. (Dallas, TX), adding to the company`s global reach in long-distance communications. The combined company will keep the Teleglobe name and be headquartered in Montreal, with its global telecommunications operations directed from Washington, DC, and its Excel retail operations directed from Dallas. In its first major move as a combined organization, Teleglobe announced plans to enter the Canadian retail telecommunications market through the formation of Excel Telecommunications (Canada) Inc.
