Nortel Networks (Brampton, ON, Canada) and ANTEC Corp. (Norcross, GA) signed a memorandum of understanding that provides for the Broadband Technology Div. (formerly LANcity Corp.), a subsidiary of Bay Networks (Santa Clara, CA), to be combined with Arris Interactive llc, an ANTEC/Nortel Networks joint-venture company. The Broadband Technology Div. became part of Nortel in an August 1998 merger with Bay Networks. ANTEC will receive exclusive distribution rights for all Broadband Technology`s products to all U.S. cable operators while Nortel will have exclusive rights outside the United States and to non-cable operators in the United States.
