Fujitsu Network Communications (FNC) says its 1FINITY disaggregated optical network hardware platforms and VIRTUORA software platforms combine to enable operators to create innovative services and accelerate revenue generation. On the hardware side, the disaggregated design of 1FINITY separates the functions of a traditional converged shelf into separate 1RU system blades. This approach removes costly technical and performance limitations, FNC says. It also enables service providers to choose only the blade functions they need. 1FINITY therefore enables rapid innovation and reduces time to market, according to the company. The 1FINITY platform's variety of programmable function blades can be used individually or together, and over a global software-defined network.
This is where the VIRTUORA suite comes in. The VIRTUORA suite of adaptable, modular software products enables service providers to build and grow virtualized programmable networks. The VIRTUORA product suite encompasses software-defined network control, network planning and design, network management, service fulfillment and assurance functions. The product suite provides a standards-based, software-driven implementation for end-to-end management of services. Judge's comment: "The system-on-a-blade 1FINITY architecture offers impressively efficient scaling and pay-as-you-grow flexibility and includes and open interface for SDN control."Click here to return to the 2016 Lightwave Innovation Reviews page.
