Estimates are that by 2018, more than three quarters of all workloads will be processed by cloud data centers. Cloud exchanges can provide direct, secure connectivity to cloud-based compute, storage, content and networking resources and services.

BTI's Cloud Exchange Solution combines the intelligence and flexibility of packet processing, with the capacity and scale of optical, and automation and programmability of software-defined networking. It is designed to provide high-capacity connectivity between data centers and cloud providers, peering points, and other partners. BTI says fewer network layers and devices as well as reduced power, cooling, and rack space requirements help to lower opex and capex, while SDN-enabled programmability through standards-based interfaces provides service agility.
