WOW! Business connects to BYTEGRID Chicago data center
Communications and cloud service provider WOW! Business has attached its fiber-optic network to a BYTEGRID Holdings LLC data center in Aurora, IL. The connection will enable WOW! to provide its network, voice, and IT infrastructure services to businesses in downtown Chicago and the city's western suburbs.
WOW! Business will establish a network point-of-presence (PoP) in the BYTEGRID data center and run a 480-count fiber cable to the building. The data center connection complements the service provider's recent purchase of fiber conduit in the downtown Chicago central business district. In all, WOW! Business will be able to connect 38 buildings encompassing what the operator asserts are "thousands of business tenants" to the BYTEGRID facility and its IT infrastructure and data center services.
"BYTEGRID's ultra-secure data center and IT infrastructure services are highly complementary to the aggressive expansion strategy in Chicago that we started last year," said Brad Cheedle, senior vice president for WOW! Business. "BYTEGRID's deployment and onboarding process has been seamless and we are pleased to share a common philosophy and mission focused on delivering communications and network services supported by exceptional customer service at affordable prices."
WOW! Business operates more than 40,000 miles of local fiber‐optic and coaxial networks in the U.S. Southeast, Mid‐Atlantic, and Midwest. It has served the Chicago area since 1999.
