Jiangsu Telecom to deploy carrier WAN-SDN core network for data center interconnect
Nokia says it will work with Jiangsu Telecom, a regional branch of China Telecom, to deploy what the systems house asserts is China's first commercial carrier WAN-SDN project. The WAN-SDN will provide data center interconnect for data centers in Yangzhou, Changzhou, and other cities in Jiangsu, a neighboring province of Shanghai.
The WAN-SDN infrastructure will leverage Nokia's Networks Services Platform (NSP) to program the company's 7950 XRS (Extensible Routing System). The NSP will optimize the use of the resources by load-balancing traffic and adjusting to changing traffic demands, Nokia says. The result will be increased network flexibility, lower overhead costs, and the ability to better meet the data demands of Jiangsu Telecom's subscriber base as well as support such application scenarios as accessing and connecting internet data centers. Jiangsu also will be able to support such future applications as high-definition video, Internet of Things, and smart homes, according to Nokia.
