MRV Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) says it will supply its OptiDriver optical transport platform to data center operator the Markley Group. The New England-based customer will use the optical systems for data center interconnect between its One Summer Street facility in Boston to its new presence in Lowell, MA.

The One Summer Street facility supports global communications and data connectivity through a diverse group of domestic and international network providers. The new facility in Lowell measures 350,000 square feet. The 50-MW, mission-critical data center and cloud computing facility targets disaster recovery initiatives as well as meeting the bandwidth, data storage, and cloud needs of business customers.

"It was imperative that we selected an experienced and field-proven provider of optical transport solutions for this large-scale project in New England," explained Patrick Gilmore, CTO of the Markley Group. "MRV's OptiDriver platform met our specifications exactly, and the support of their staff enabled us to meet a tight timeline for bringing our services to market quickly. It is important that we rapidly scale with energy-efficient, cost-effective network infrastructure. MRV solutions deliver low latency, high reliability, and peak network performance, thereby enabling us to maintain our end-customer service-level agreements (SLAs)."
