Central Bank of Austria cashes in with ADVA for data center interconnect

June 30, 2020
The fiber infrastructure will support up to 32G Fibre Channel and 100G Ethernet connections and supply disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.

ADVA (FSE: ADV) says it is supplying its FSP 3000 platform to the Central Bank of Austria for data center interconnect applications. The fiber infrastructure will support up to 32G Fibre Channel and 100G Ethernet connections and supply disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities. The bank’s network also will leverage ADVA’s ConnectGuard Optical encryption technology as well as ADVA ALM fiber monitoring.

The data center interconnect network will support 200-Gbps wavelength transmission initially. The links will accommodate a variety of Ethernet and Fibre Channel traffic at several rates.

“Our customers demand world-class services with unbeatable security and availability. That’s why we’re committed to harnessing the most innovative technology on the market. Built on the ADVA FSP 3000 and secured by ConnectGuard Optical encryption, our new DCI [data center interconnect] network supports the fastest, most advanced SAN connectivity available, ensuring mission-critical data is always accessible and fully protected,” said Daniela Karanitsch, head of IT operations, Central Bank of Austria.

“This flexible, high-capacity solution empowers us to tackle huge increases in data demand while also making significant savings on rack space and power consumption,” Karanitsch continued. “What’s more, its efficiency and sustainability is further enhanced by ADVA’s ALM fiber monitoring technology, which provides round-the-clock visibility and assurance of the entire network.”

Deployments of the ADVA technology have begun in collaboration with ADVA’s partners Componet and dacoso, who are also providing ongoing support with maintenance and SLA management. According to Hartmut Müller-Leitloff, senior vice president, sales, EMEA, at ADVA, the ALM monitoring platform already proven its usefulness when it identified an issue at the service provider end, thus preventing outages.
