Seaborn offers connections to more DE-CIX internet exchanges
Internet exchange operator DE-CIX has reached agreement with submarine cable operator Seaborn to extend their relationship beyond connectivity to DE-CIX New York. Seaborn and DE-CIX now offer access and interconnectivity to DE-CIX internet exchanges in Marseille, Madrid, Dallas, and Frankfurt. The agreement enables Seaborn customers to purchase transport to peer directly through Seaborn with a single agreement or to leverage Seaborn’s submarine network and interconnection with DE-CIX to purchase transport to peer and enter a relationship with DE-CIX directly.
Seaborn’s submarine cable networks connect South and North America, principally through Seabras-1 (see “Seabras-1 submarine network operational with Infinera XTS-3300 meshponders” and "Revamped Seaborn plots slightly altered submarine network course”). Seabras-1 offers a measured latency of 107.68 ms RTD between metropolitan São Paulo PoPs and DE-CIX New York as well as the most direct path between Brazil and DE-CIX.

“Through the partnership with Seaborn, thousands of networks in South America are now able to join DE-CIX, the largest neutral interconnection and peering ecosystem worldwide” added Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX International. “Especially interconnecting in New York becomes extremely attractive in comparison to Miami. Using the low latency at the Seaborn infrastructure, network operators from Latin America can enjoy the huge variety of connectivity and peering options at DE-CIX New York as their natural global gateway to North America, Canada, and Europe at the same time.”
