FiberLight to provide fiber connectivity to new MDC Data Centers Texas facility

The new site, to be located at 500 Bliss Street, will leverage MDC’s International Fiber Crossing Infrastructure offering to enable connections between Dallas and the central Mexican city of Querétaro.

Fiber network services provider FiberLight, LLC and colocation services provider MDC Data Centers have reached an agreement that will see FiberLight become the first fiber provider to link into a new MDC Data Centers facility planned for Eagle Pass, TX. The new site, to be located at 500 Bliss Street, will leverage MDC’s International Fiber Crossing Infrastructure offering to enable connections between Dallas and the central Mexican city of Querétaro.

Located 125 miles from Mexico City, Querétaro, is seeing a spike a data center activity driven mainly by cloud service providers and over-the-top (OTT) media companies looking to service customers and enterprises in Mexico, say the two companies. In particular, data center and cloud services providers in Santiago de Querétaro will have a need for diverse interconnectivity with major OTT companies and content providers in the U.S., the partners believe.

The collaboration in Eagle Pass builds on an existing relationship between the two companies that has seen FiberLight leverage its Texas fiber infrastructure to connect into four other MDC Data Centers facilities:

  • MDC McAllen (MCA1), 200 S 10th Street
  • MDC McAllen (MCA2), 422 S 11th Street
  • MDC El Paso, 11455 Cedar Oak Drive
  • MDC Laredo, 13619 Cabezut Drive.

“Thanks to our Texas footprint, FiberLight is pleased to deliver fiber to the new MDC Data Center strategically located in Eagle Pass,” commented Jay Anderson, CTO of FiberLight. “We are excited for the opportunity to offer connectivity to MDC Data Centers and enable cross-border, consistent service for all their customers.”

“For more than a decade, MDC has been a trusted partner, guide, and advocate for networks on both sides of the border,” added Juan Salazar, CEO of MDC Data Centers. “Our vision is to provide our clients with a Border Interconnection Platform that spans the length and breadth of the U.S.-Mexico border. This new location is a vital step towards realizing that vision.”
