EdgeConneX Richmond data center connects with SummitIG dark fiber

Hosting services provider EdgeConneX says it has reached an agreement to have fiber-optic network services provider SummitIG provide dark fiber connectivity to EdgeConneX new Richmond Edge Data Center (EDC). The connectivity eventually will extend to the EdgeConneX Norfolk facility as well, according to the company.

SummitIG will leverage the Richmond EDC's diverse building points of entry for maximum redundancy. The dark fiber links will be completely underground, unique, and diverse from existing routes, the partners assert.

Use of SummitIG dark fiber infrastructure on the I-95 right of way will provide Richmond EDC customers with direct connections to Ashburn, Reston, and Vienna, VA on what SummitIG says is the lowest latency route, bypassing Washington, DC.
