SEPTEMBER 22, 2009 -- Communications provider Bell Aliant is now making FibreOP residential services available for sale in areas of Fredericton, NB, Canada on the area's only 100% fiber-optic network.

"Bell Aliant will be the first in Canada to cover an entire city with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology, and bring a 100% fiber-optic network directly to customers' homes," says Heather Tulk, senior vice president, customer solutions, Bell Aliant. “These services will deliver the fastest Internet and video sharing available in New Brunswick, the ultimate high-definition TV experience, and the best customer service experience."

FibreOP Internet offers fast download and upload speeds needed for music or movies and sharing video or photos. Internet services are available at speeds up to 35-Mbps download with 10-Mbps upload. Increasing the capacity of upload speeds in addition to download is important to ensure the fastest two-way and overall Internet experience.

FibreOP TV offers 100% digital TV service including HDTV and watch-and record PVR, giving customers the option to watch and record two different HD channels at one time. Other features include an onscreen program guide, free time-shifting that allows customers to watch their favorite shows from other time zones, local radio music stations and access to pay-per-view movies and events.

FibreOP services are now for sale in areas of Fredericton and will continue to be rolled out to the remainder of Fredericton and Saint John by the middle of 2010. They can be purchased alone, or bundled with other telecommunications and entertainment services.

On July 7, 2009, Bell Aliant announced that with the support of the Government of New Brunswick, it would invest $60 million to serve 70,000 homes and businesses in Fredericton and Saint John by mid-2010.
