AUGUST 23, 2006 -- EPON/GEPON equipment provider Alloptic (search Alloptic) has signed a reseller agreement with value-added partner ProCibernetica of Colombia as part of its continuing expansion into Central and Latin America. ProCibernetica serves Colombia and Ecuador with expertise in the telecommunications and data communications markets.

"Alloptic's GE-PON solution will lay at the core of the total solution that we offer to our customers," reports Gildardo Gonzales, CEO of ProCibernetica. "We are seeing a growing demand for a flexible, reliable converged services platform, capable of supporting voice, data, and video services in communities and industrial sites. We extensively researched potential partners and technologies, and Alloptic's Gigabit Ethernet-based PON solution was clearly superior to other solutions available on the market," he contends.

Alloptic claims its GEPON system is the industry's only system with five years of field hardened, operational history. The Alloptic solution leverages a standard ITU PON architecture while delivering a gigabit of bandwidth. With a native ability to support traditional TDM voice over an Ethernet-based platform, Alloptic is able to provide today's worry free telephone services while seamlessly supporting next-generation services like IP HDTV, say company representatives.

"We are pleased to be working with ProCibernetica in the Latin America region FTTx market," asserts Shane Eleniak, vice president of marketing and business development for Alloptic. "Alloptic's GEPON solution is proving to be a superior technology for the applications that ProCibernetica is addressing. Whether utilizing our superior service capabilities for Greenfield developments and deployments; our industry-leading upstream bandwidth for security monitoring and control applications; or our proven, cost-effective architecture and design, ProCibernetica has clearly positioned themselves as the market leader in the design and deployment of FTTx solutions in the region," he contends.
