July 25, 2006 Santa Clara, CA -- Korea Telecom has ordered additional DWDM access transport technologies from Novera Optics to support about 20,000 broadband subscribers. The deployment brings the company's total number of Novera-supported lines to approximately 100,000.
Novera Optics has already delivered more than 75,000 lines of DWDM transport technologies to Korea Telecom for Internet and data services through its DWDM access transport platform. Due to successful commercial demands, Korea Telecom is adding another 20,000 lines.
"The deployment of additional lines to Korea Telecom shows their confidence and commitment to our DWDM technology," said Bernd Hesse, vice president of marketing and business development at Novera Optics. "So far, KT has deployed 75,000 lines over our system. By adding an additional 20,000 lines, KT will connect approximately 100,000 subscribers over the DWDM technology, which shows how this future-proof investment provides carriers with the simplicity, security, scalability, and the versatility to deliver any service at any time. We are very pleased to have our system commercially deployed by one of the leading innovative broadband access service providers worldwide."
With its point-to-point, bidirectional optical links through a single feeder fiber, the DWDM system provides Korea Telecom an easy upgrade path, symmetrical downstream and upstream bandwidth, and multiprotocol transparency for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC) applications, according to Novera Optics.
