May 30, 2006 Mountain View, CA -- BroadLight has announced that Zhone Technologies has incorporated its GPON end-to-end (E2E) technology into its product Line. BroadLight's E2E GPON chipsets and software was the industry's first available GPON end-to-end offering.
BroadLight first unveiled its E2E GPON line in June 2005 and delivered samples in December 2005. E2E GPON includes the BL2000 GPON family of SoCs for ONU/ONT applications; the BL3000 GPON OLT MAC; and PONmaker software for ONUs and OLTs. BroadLight asserts that its E2E GPON product line provides customers with a low-cost and low-risk approach that significantly speeds their time to market with ITU-T G.984-compliant GPON equipment.
"Zhone and BroadLight have enjoyed a long-term partnership beginning with early development of BPON equipment and now adding GPON designs," said Raphael Sankar, vice president of worldwide sales for BroadLight. "We are pleased to see Zhone broadening its FTTP offerings with increasingly faster and cheaper leading-edge PON technology."
"Combining the strength of both copper and multiple fiber access technologies creates differentiated product leadership in this growing market," said Eric Presworsky, vice president of product management at Zhone. "The addition of BroadLight's GPON technology delivers additional interoperability, performance and cost savings that our service-provider customers need."
